Christian parents have the privilege and responsibility of training and ministering to our children in ways that help them understand who God is and cultivate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Knowing a child’s educational environment has an enormous impact. Parents of Black Hills Christian Academy students have entrusted BHCA to partner in reinforcing the Christian principles that are foundational in their home.

Love and Logic
The Love and Logic Institute is dedicated to making parenting and teaching fun and rewarding, instead of stressful and chaotic. Practical tools and techniques help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships with children.
The Love and Logic approach to parenting is built around the science of caring and respectful relationships. An authentic, loving connection between parents and their children forms the foundation of good behavior and healthy decision-making.
Children learn the best lessons when they’re given a task and allowed to make their own choices (and fail) when the cost of failure is still small. Children’s failures must be coupled with love and empathy from their parents and teachers.
Love
The “love” in Love and Logic means that we love our kids so much we are willing to set and enforce limits. This “love” also means that we do so with sincere compassion and empathy.
Logic
The “logic” in Love and Logic happens when we allow children to make decisions, affordable mistakes, and experience the natural or logical consequences. When we balance this with sincere empathy, our children develop logic.
Children learn that the quality of their lives depends on the quality of their choices.
Basic Tenets of Love and Logic
- Uses humor, hope, and empathy to build up the adult/child relationship
- Emphasizes respect and dignity for both children and adults
- Provides real limits in a loving way
- Teaches consequences and healthy decision-making
